Fifth edition of the Barcelona Science and Technology Diplomacy Summer School

Barcelona also hosts the first World Science Diplomacy Summit

Catalonia International, together with SciTech DiploHub, IBEI, CIDOB, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and the Barcelona City Council, have organized the 5th edition of the Barcelona Science and Technology Diplomacy Summer School to deal with issues related to scientific and technological diplomacy. The summer course began on 30 June and ended on 4 July.

As in previous editions, the activity was aimed at scientists, technology experts, diplomats and international relations professionals. On this occasion, 24 people signed up, many of whom traveled to Barcelona from abroad. Among the speakers were experts who discussed current issues in the field of science and technology and international relations, from technological diplomacy to climate diplomacy and cyber diplomacy, with a special focus on Europe, the Mediterranean and the role of global cities.

As a novelty this year, the World Science Diplomacy Summit took place on 5 July at the headquarters of Barcelona Activa, with 147 registrants. The event, organized by SciTech DiploHub with the collaboration of Catalonia International, had the participation of international experts in technology, science and scientific diplomacy. This first edition focused on scientific diplomacy for social progress and scientific diplomacy for peace and how to rebuild trust in difficult times.
